Save or Splurge…. Awesome Ikea Finds!

This week we’re making up for missing our Save or Splurge last week. Us Fresh Chicks have been busy little bees lately. So…. this week we’re giving you two…… yes TWO great home decor finds. These two “Saves” come from one of our all time favorite home stores……IKEA! We say that with such enthusiasm because every time we go there we tend to squeal at all of the great things we come across. Where else can you go and actually design an entire house. Now we know that Ikea isn’t everyones cup of tea…..but the great thing about them is they have several items that can mix with any style.  Start with something simple and go from there.

Finding it hard to decide on what color window treatment will go best? Well, how about these simple white cotton curtains. Use these and you can add color in other areas of the room. Do a bold color or pattern on the walls. Add color in other areas with accessories, rugs and pillows. These are a great way to ground the other elements in the room.

The SAVE…Pair of Merete Grommet Curtains in “bleached”.

(57″ wide and 98″ long and is easily hemmed to desired length with the enclosed iron-on hemming strip)

Ikea: $29.99 a pair

The SPLURGE….. Cameron Grommet Drape

(50″ wide and 97″ long) The only benefit… in our opinion of course… is they offer longer sizes and are hemmed, but for typical 9″ ceilings the Ikea version will work….. and who pays attention to seams anyways 🙂

Pottery Barn: $55 each ($110 for a pair)

A great way to add some pizazz to empty walls while also showcasing those precious family photos is with these great simple white frames. These are great for making a large collage with several different prints or photos. When it comes to creating an entire wall collage it can get pretty expensive….. so these Ribba frames from Ikea can help keep the cost down.

The SAVE….. Ribba 12″ x 16″ White Frame with Matte (hold 8″x 10″ print).

Ikea: $9.99

The SPLURGE….. Wood Gallery Single Opening Frame (14″x 17″ with 8″x 10″ opening)

Pottery Barn: $29.00

Ikea is also a great resource for party decor! They have a variety of serving dishes, trays and containers that are great for displaying candy and treats. As well as an array of fun and colorful fabrics that we have used for dessert table tops and backdrops. Do you love ikea as much as we do? Tell us about it!
